Gryffindor was “found” in a wire yard behind some stables in Alice Springs during a working visit. His first occupation after racing was eventing, where he performed credibly but his degree of natural ability was not as high as his desire to perform – so a new career was chosen. Three months following his first show – he qualified for the 2004 EA Nationals where he was declared both National Champion and won the Trans-Tasman Competiton under an english judge. Overall, he qualified for the EA Nationals for 8 consecutive years, being declared champion twice and once runner-up, he competed at the Grand Nationals 4 times where he won and was runner up and the other two times he made the top 5, the year he won he also carried Charlie to a top 5 in the senior Rider. He was Champion Show Hunter twice at Adelaide Royal and Reserve Champion twice, Champion at Canberra Royal and three times Reserve Champion at Sydney Royal. In his retirement “Piggy” remains part of the the furniture at Argyl Stud and has taken on a role as a baby sitter.
