Argyl Stud is based at Kangarilla, on the eastern slopes of Mclaren Vale, SA. Only 35 km from the CBD and Adelaide airport.

Founded by Andrew and Charlie Hunt, the stud originated in 2001 following the purchase of our first stallion, Kolbeach Royalty.

We have based our breeding on lines that have and are producing saddle ponies and Galloways first and foremost, while aiming to maintain quality, structure and function to perform in hand. Since 2008, Charlie has been based full time at the stud and plays a major role in the development of the saddle horse team and production of youngstock.

Andrew is the resident vet, eyes on the ground and sometimes gets thrown aboard when we need more than one rider. In addition, Andrew is a Director in the Morphettville Equine Clinic, and since 2001 has been a member of the Australian Equestrian Team Veterinary Panel – attending two Olympic Games, two World Equestrian Games and numerous trans-tasman team events.

We have both been involved in multiple disciplines, and we draw on this experience to select, breed and produce horses that we believe are suitable to meet the demands of the modern show horse. As a team, we have produced horses to the highest levels within this country – winning at EA Nationals, SHC Grand Nationals, Royal Show Champions and twice we have presented Supreme Champion at Royal Shows. We have both competed to Royal Show level in the UK and together have judged internationally.  We have two Children Maison and Fletcher and although only young, they both show a strong interest in the horses.
